Mediterranean Lunch by Nish Nush

Nish Nush, a Mediterranean vegetarian restaurant in the city, offered to cater lunch for those of us at the office today. I’ve never heard of Nish Nush before, but I enjoyed the food (we all did!). The first time I had falafel, it was a revelation for my taste buds. I think I first tried it sometime in the middle of my college career. Experiencing an entirely new flavor profile was amazing.  Continue reading

Beyond Sushi: A New Dine-In Location

Last night, I went to the preview of a new Beyond Sushi location opening up at Herald Square on May 10. This new restaurant will be different from the other Beyond Sushi places in the city because it is a dine-in restaurant with table service and a bar. I attended with a friend (who eats a mainly vegetarian diet). I honestly had low expectations because I’m a meat-eater and when I see the word “vegan,” I kind of associate it with something tasteless or not very satisfying.  Continue reading

Restaurants Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Menu Specials

I’m pretty cinco’ed out. I spent the last week or so gathering images and info about restaurant deals for Cinco de Mayo, so I’m pretty tired of the words “Cinco de Mayo,” “margarita,” “tequila,” and “tacos.” My friend in Mexico told me that only the state of Puebla celebrates the holiday there. I’ve never celebrated Cinco de Mayo and I’m not sure how or why Americans have latched onto this day, but maybe we all just like an excuse to get drunk and eat tacos (no judgment there).

See how restaurants are partying it up for Cinco de Mayo!

Desserts at Chipotle?

I learned from work that Chipotle will be releasing two desserts soon. One of them will be buñuelos, which I understand to be sweet fried dough balls. I personally rarely order anything else at Chipotle besides my usual burrito bowl and the occasional chips and guac, so I doubt I will get dessert at the chain. Unless these were like the BEST buñuelos ever. But maybe those with a sweet tooth would like the option of ordering something sugary with their Chipotle meal. Or this could be a huge fail. We shall see, Chipotle…

Happy Hour at Bar Fogo: Caipirinhas & Brazilian Bites

Last night, I attended a media event at Fogo de Chão (on 53rd St.) to check out the new menu selection at their bar, Bar Fogo. Fogo de Chão is a popular Brazilian steakhouse known for its churrasco and I’ve heard about the brand numerous times from my friends and my co-workers, but this was my first time at the restaurant.
